ABC congratulates Southern California Chapter member Glenn Rowden of Champion Electric, Inc., for achieving Presidential Level status in ABC National's Beam Club. Presidential status is achieved by a members recruitment of 25 or more new members. The Beam Club was established in 1966 to recognize ABC's top membership recruiters for their commitment to growing the association.
The Constructor Segment of the Construction Users Round Table (CURT) Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Awards program recognizes commendable safety performance of individual constructor firms. The awards are intended to convey CURT's strong support of constructor safety performance. Recipients of ABC's STEP Platinum award for 2007 and 2008 are encouraged to apply. This commitment recognizes that constructors have the primary responsibility for execution of on-site safety. Constructors are most effective when they work in conjunction with the owner and architects/engineers to ensure an overall safe workplace. ABC So-Cal holds it’s local Craft Championships in January of each year. An annual event, 3rd and 4th year contestants from the Electrical Apprenticeship, Plumbers Apprenticeship and Electrical Craft Training programs compete in an all day event, building finished products based on schematics from start to finish. Judges grade the quality of work, as well as safety. 1st place winners from each program are awarded an all expense paid trip for two to compete at the National Craft Championships, held in a different exciting venue each year.

Every year, ABC presents the Craft Instructor of the Year award to an instructor who possesses outstanding teaching credentials and demonstrates a commitment to effectively training the next generation of construction craft professionals. This instructor goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide a strong foundation of learning for the future of the workforce.
